PRP therapy and Phlebotomy

PRP and Phlebotomy Training

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy or Blood-spinning has a great application in the field of modern medicine and renders solution to diverse medical problems including musculoskeletal problems, tissue, ligaments and muscle healing, chronic tendon issues, partial tears in tendons, osteoarthritis, oral and dental surgery, cosmetic and anti aging therapy. The outcome of the PRP therapy is very positive and encouraging. The popularity of PRP treatments among patients for aesthetic purposes and treatment of musculoskeletal and sport injuries has exploded in recent years as patients are now realizing the long-term and permanent benefits of this procedure.

A skillfully executed phlebotomy procedure is required in PRP treatment and using a centrifuge machine, patient's own blood, after collection, is spun down to separate out, and concentrate the platelets and growth factors that are essential for tissue healing. The use of PRP, a portion of the patient's own blood having certain platelet concentration, to promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints, can be applied to various musculoskeletal problems.

A non-surgical cosmetic procedure involving reinjection of platelet rich fibrin matrix (PRFM)—derived from a patient's own blood back into multiple areas of the facial skin to treat wrinkles and rejuvenate the face is also very popular treatment modality in present times.

The increase in popularity of PRP treatments has lead to a great impact on the demand for the phlebotomists and has increased job opportunities for phlebotomists in these fields. The skillful training of phlebotomy and venipuncture helps students apply their knowledge and skills for the application of PRP in all aesthetic, medical, dental, hair therapy and pain management areas.
