The Medical Pharmacology certificate program at Springfield College helps you develop the fundamental knowledge of pharmacology and the reasoning skills needed to evaluate therapeutically appropriate details of various pharmacological drugs or agents used in medical practices. The program provides you essential information and knowledge of the general principles underlying the use of pharmacological agents in the practice of medicine. The program also helps you comprehend the evolving concepts of pharmacology and therapeutics and integrate understanding of pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution and elimination of drugs) and pharmacodynamics into healthcare practices throughout your professional career. This certificate program is designed to provide a concrete theoretical foundation and accurate knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, different names, types, properties, actions, routes, selection, uses and side effects of various drugs.

In this program the students will learn the basic concepts of Pharmacology & role of HCP, principles underlying the therapeutic use of pharmacological agents encompassing new information about various drugs, drug sources, types, importance and examples, properties and reactions of drugs. The students will be able to understand the mechanisms of action and pathology of various drugs of abuse. The students will be able to identify a range of drugs used in medicine and discuss their mechanisms of action. They will be able to identify the clinical applications, side effects and toxicities of drugs used in medicine as well as translate pharmacological principles into clinical decision-making. The program provides you the opportunity to develop the skills needed to acquire and critically evaluate therapeutically relevant details of an ever-increasing number of pharmacological agents and developing concepts of acceptable medical practice.
