Overview:
This is one of the important courses in the field of Medical and Health Care Office Administration offered as a short-term Certificate course at Springfield College. Knowledge of medical terminology is essential for students wishing to pursue a dream career in a medical setup or hospitals to communicate with patients and other health care professionals. In this course, the main emphasis is placed on defining, spelling, and building of various medical terms and abbreviations, commonly used in medical settings. Our Medical Terminology Certification Programs are specifically designed and planned for learning and skills upgrading of the candidates in the Medical/Healthcare system who will be required to have working knowledge of medical vocabulary as it is related to medical records and reports, medical diagnoses, laboratory findings, and general communication in health care settings. as well as for beginners who are desirous to have a dream career in the medical offices/ hospitals.
We regularly conduct the classes for the program on weekdays, evenings and weekend schedules. We also have online program modules available. We also arrange for the comprehensive program for the students traveling long distances.

Program Outline-
This 2 weeks (38 Hrs) module consists of –

knowledge and practice of understanding and building of various medical terms and abbreviations, commonly used in medical settings

Elements of medical terms and medical abbreviations

Learning the knowledge, understanding and word building ability, exercises and practice related to Body Structure and Directional Terminology and body systems such as Integumentary System, Musculoskeletal System, Gastrointestinal System, Urinary System, Reproductive System, Nervous System, Respiratory System, CVS, Endocrine System, special senses etc.
Learning Outcomes:
This Medical Terminology course will provide students with the necessary written and verbal skills to succeed in their medical profession. By the end of this course, students will learn the fundamentals of word medical terms applied in the medical and health care fields and word-building processes. They will be able to demonstrate the ability to use word-building techniques to spell and define medical terms and abbreviations. Students will acquire the techniques and skills essential to mastering a comprehensive general or specialized medical vocabulary through study of medical terms pertaining to anatomy, physiology, pathology, procedures, tests, pharmacology and medical cases.
Students will demonstrate the ability to:

Identify word roots, prefixes, and suffixes in medical terminology.

Define a variety of medical terms into simple English definitions.
